Breakfast Program

Did you know that St. Thomas Aquinas CSS provides ALL students with access to healthy food at school? A Breakfast Program has been running in partnership with Halton Food for Thought (HFFT) since 2006. This program is open to all students free of charge and breakfast is available every morning prior to the start of period one class, Monday to Friday, from 7:30 a.m. until 8:10 a.m. All food prepared and served at our Breakfast Program meets Ministry of Child and Youth Services Nutrition Guidelines and follow Safe Food Handling practices.

To continue this successful program, we need your help! If you would like to make a financial contribution to this valuable program, it would be greatly appreciated. No donation is too small! See below for details on how to easily donate and help ensure “no student goes hungry at school”.

The Benefits
Food is fuel! What students eat has a profound impact on their ability to learn. Studies show that students with access to healthy food choices are more alert and perform better academically. According to the Kellog’s Study students who came to school hungry, lose 132 minutes – 2 ½ hours of class time a day.

We understand the value of providing nutritious food to ALL students to optimize their learning potential. When surveyed, schools that started a Student Nutrition Program report seeing an increase in readiness to learn, a reduction in at risk student behavior and an overall improvement in academic performance. Wow!
