What is OYAP?
The Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) is a School to Career program designed to help students make a smooth, successful transition into or to their post secondary education apprenticeship programs. ITT OYAP helps students prepare for a career as a computer hardware technician, network technician, or help desk
Who Should Take ITT OYAP?
There are many types of students who should consider enrolling in the ITT OYAP program, these include:
- Students wishing to pursue a career in IT as an apprentice
- Students interested in attending a College IT program
- Students thinking about attending College or University in a computer science or computer engineering program
- Students who think they might be interested in a career in IT but aren't sure yet
You may know you want to enter the fielf of IT as an apprentice, or through College, or University. You can enroll in the ITT OYAP to get you in to apprenticehip, or as a way to prepare you for your post secondary destination. This program is open to all students from any school in Halton.
ITT OYAP Details

- The ITT OYAP begins in September each year and lasts for both semesters
- Students attend class for half the day, and work at a co-op placement for the other half
- Students earn a Computer Engineering, Computer Networking, and two Co-op credits each semester.
- Students earn a Level 1 Apprenticeship Certificate from Canadore College
- Students are signed as apprentices with the MTCU and your co-op hours count towards your apprenticeship hours
- Students attend class at St. Thomas Aquinas HS in Oakville
