Welcome Letter 2017

Dear Student and Parents:

Congratulations on graduation from elementary school and welcome to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School. We hope you are excited about entering Grade 9 in September. All Grade 9 students are invited to an orientation session on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. You will receive your schedule for the year, an overview of the Grade 9 program and some welcome activities. Lunch will be provided. Parents, you are welcomed to attend our annual Curriculum Evening held on September 21, 2017 @ 6:00 p.m. where there will be introduction to our school community.

Student lockers will be assigned on the first day of classes. The school will provide students with a good quality lock. Your locker remains the property of the school and may be inspected or opened at any time. Please do not bring valuables to school. The first day back to school is Tuesday, September 5, 2017. Transportation schedules for September, 2017 will be available the last week of August. Go to www.haltonbus.ca for student transportation information. All students are expected to be in full uniform on Tuesday, September 5th. Please refer to the website for Dress Code Policy. Students who are not in compliance with the Dress Code, will not be admitted to class without the permission of the Vice Principal. The school cafeteria will be in operation the first day of school. Breakfast and lunch services are available for purchase from the school cafeteria or you may bring a lunch to school.

Regular and punctual attendance at all classes is vital to your success. It is important to schedule vacations and employment outside of regularly scheduled class time and examination periods. Students who miss a test or assignment due to illness, may, at the discretion ofthe Administration, be required to obtain a doctor’s note. Please take the time to review the attached attendance policy for further details.

We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 for orientation and then on Tuesday, September 5, in full uniform, and ready to embark on a very successful school year. We encourage you to get involved in all aspects of student life at St. Thomas Aquinas – spiritually, academically and by participating in co-curricular activities. Listen for announcements the first week of school for information regarding fall school teams and clubs.
